Classroom

A semester-bounded workspace for a class, $5/seat.

Students join with a class code and get Pro features on their own surveys. You see everything they submit; they don’t see each other’s work unless it’s shared.

Data Security

Your research data is protected at every layer

We take the privacy of you and your participants seriously. Survey response data, credentials, and access controls are secured with encryption, database-layer rules, and audit logging.

Encrypted responses

Survey responses and PII fields are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before being written to the database. The encryption key is separate from the database access credential.

Database-layer access control

Row-Level Security enforces ownership and collaboration rules directly in the database. Access restrictions cannot be bypassed by application code.

Multi-factor authentication

TOTP-based MFA is available on all accounts and can be required across an entire team workspace, adding a second factor beyond password sign-in.

HTTPS everywhere

All connections use HTTPS with a two-year HSTS policy. Browsers are instructed never to fall back to plain HTTP, even on first visit.

Hashed API credentials

API keys are stored as SHA-256 hashes. The original key is shown once at creation and never retained, so a database leak does not expose working credentials.

Audit logging

Sign-in, data export, and record modification events are logged with the user identity, IP address, and timestamp — so access history is available for review.

Academic Methodology First

Best Social Science Survey Software

Academic social science requires rigorous design, transparent participant routing, and auditable, high-integrity exports. Here is why researchers transition from legacy enterprise builders to Domandata for political science and social science research surveys.

Visual Logic vs. Obscure Routing

Instead of complex logic trees or hidden branching menus, model your entire respondent path visually in Flow. You and your co-authors can inspect randomization blocks, eligibility screeners, and quotas in one clear interactive flowchart.

No-Code Experiments vs. JavaScript scripting

Skip writing custom JavaScript blocks just to run randomized treatment conditions or pipe dynamic text. Define experimental condition arms visually and let Domandata handle text-piping and arm assignment natively.

Analysis-Ready Exports vs. Manual Cleaning

Legacy survey builders isolate question design from your data output. Domandata bundles variable names, recodes, assigned treatment conditions, and randomization histories directly into R, Python, or Stata exports.

FAQ

A few practical answers before you start

These answers explain how Domandata supports careful survey design, experiments, collaboration, and analysis without assuming specialized methods vocabulary.

What makes Domandata the best social science survey software?

Domandata is built specifically for academic methodology. It provides a visual no-code Flow diagram for routing experimental treatment randomizations (eliminating hacky custom JavaScript scripting), supports built-in response quotas, and outputs structured response data with variable names, recoded values, and randomization history intact for clean analysis in R, Python, and Stata.

How is Domandata different from a general survey builder?

Domandata is organized around the work of research: writing the instrument, routing respondents, assigning experimental conditions, publishing the participant link, and exporting data with enough context to audit the study. It is meant to keep design decisions and the details needed for analysis together instead of scattering them across documents and spreadsheets.

Can Domandata run randomized survey experiments?

Yes. You can create condition sets in Flow, assign respondents randomly or by a prior variable, route each arm to different treatment material, cap arms with quotas, and export the assigned condition with the response data. Preview lets you test each path before launch.

What question types can researchers build with?

Block Builder includes multiple choice, dropdown, short answer, ranking, grid matrix and Likert-style batteries, sliders, conjoint tasks, heatmaps, content blocks, reCAPTCHA, and Text Chat questions. The question types are designed to produce understandable response fields for later analysis.

Can teams reuse approved materials?

Yes. The Library lets teams save approved blocks, demographic batteries, consent text, screeners, themes, and recurring end screens. For a whole-study starter, duplicate a prior survey and then review the variables, routes, quotas, contact details, and codebook notes before launch.

How do exports support analysis?

Exports are designed to carry more than raw answers. Researchers can check variable names, recodes, condition assignments, randomized order fields, quota-relevant variables, completion metadata, survey documents, and Flow diagrams, so the analysis file can be read alongside the instrument respondents saw.

Is Domandata free?

Yes—there is a Free plan for drafting and previewing surveys (no credit card required). Standard, Pro, and Beta Tester are paid plans billed through Stripe; cancel anytime.
